The Road Department maintains all of the 1,484 miles of road within the county. This mileage includes 150 miles in over 200 rural housing subdivisions outside the city limits of Bismarck. Burleigh County also funds installation and maintenance of all culverts measuring 24" in diameter and larger located in defined public roads. This does not include private approach culverts on any roads.
The Road Department also maintains 67 bridges on county and township roads.
