If you feel that you are the victim of a crime you should report it to law enforcement for investigation. The State's Attorney's Office does not conduct criminal investigations. If the crime occurred in the Bismarck city limits, it should be reported to the Bismarck Police Department at (701) 223-1212. If the crime occurred in the county, it should be reported to the Burleigh County Sheriff's Department at (701) 222-6651. After the investigation is completed by the appropriate agency, one of the attorneys in the State's Attorney's Office will review the matter and make a determination whether criminal charges will be filed and what the charges will be.
