FOSTER CARE

Provides a safe, secure family environment for a youth until the youth can return home or until a permanent home is found.


TYPES OF FOSTER CARE

Emergency Care take in a youth who needs a safe place.

Traditional Care provides a healthy family environment for a varied length of time.

  • Long Term Foster Care
  • Kinship Care



ADOPTION

Special needs adoption provides a permanent family to an older child, sibling group, a child of a race/ethnicity that is difficult to place or a child with an emotional or physical disability.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Concern for children and families
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Single or married
  • Own home or rent
  • Work or stay at home parents
  • Financially stable

Foster Parent News

A free newsletter is published by the University of North Dakota Children and Family Services Training Center and is sent, quarterly, to all foster parents, foster care providers, and child welfare agencies. Fostering Communications is dedicated to highlighting statewide, regional, and local foster parent activities.
