Vision Statement

"The Board envisions Burleigh County Social Services as the premier county social service agency in North Dakota, recognized statewide for excelling in adult and children services; and for moving dependent persons and families to independence."

Value Statement

The Board believes that the clients (customers) of the Agency are valuable human beings who need temporary assistance to allow them to become self-sufficient and independent.

The Board believes that the Agency's services, to the extent that they are effective in achieving desired outcomes, are valuable government services that need to be provided with excellence.

The Board values the Agency's staff as unique human beings that are dedicated to providing excellent services.

If an employee acts in such a way as to negate the provision of excellent services, the Board believes that the employee should receive training and support to improve the quality of his or her services. If the outcome does not improve thereafter, disciplinary processes used should be fair and speedy.

The Board believes that illegal discrimination of any kind against clients or staff is not to be tolerated.

The Board believes that good communication is essential to the provision of excellent services, and will hold the Director accountable for fostering an atmosphere in which good and free communication will happen.

The Board believes that clients and families must be treated with courtesy and respect, and that staff's ability to do so begins with staff treating each other with respect, and with staff being treated with courtesy and respect by the Board of Directors and the supervisors.

The Board believes that families need to be supported and encouraged to be self-sufficient and to take care of their family members. Thus as treatment and case management decision are made, the staff must be listening to families as they express their needs, and the staff must be open to meeting those needs.
